West Orange resident Angel Escalante got up close and personal with a deer today on Undercliff Terrace. He managed to capture the fearlessness and inquisitiveness of these backyard visitors. Behind the deer, who seems to have shed his left antler of late, is a hazy, orange sky, discolored by the smoke from the Canadian wildfires. “I got close enough not to startle it,” said Escalante, who posts photographs of local wildlife on his personal website. Asked why he enjoys snapping photos of deer, Escalante said: “They are practically my dependents since they are forever on my property.”
